Smallwood signs in

NEW Rotherham United signing Richie Smallwood is in a race against time to be registered for tonight's Championship clash against Watford at the New York Stadium.

The popular midfielder returns to Steve Evans' squad on an emergency loan deal, subject to Football League ratification.

The 23-year-old arrived in January of last season, scoring a decisive penalty in the play-off final against Leyton Orient and only tasting defeat twice during his 18 game first stint.

Manager Evans said: "With the absence of Rob Milsom, we needed some cover with some important matches coming up.

"I have always spoken about my admiration of Richie as a player, and there's no Millers supporter who would not think that he played a massive part in our promotion from League One last season, including a man of the match performance at Wembley.

Kick-off tonight is at 7.45pm, with the Millers looking to follow up Saturday’s win over Wolves.
