Trailing 7-6 at half time in driving rain at Clifton Lane, Titans put in a gritty second-half show to run in three tries on the way to a 28-13 victory in front of a delighted home crowd.

Dual code man, Callum Bustin, making his first start, claimed two of them and replacement Rikki Stout the other. Jonny West kicked the other points.

Titans have four wins and a draw from their opening five games and share pole position with Sedgley Park and Hull Ionians, next Saturday's opponents.

Poole said: “It is a massive victory for us because we know Fylde are a good team. Even though it was raining they still tried to play but we stuck to our game plan, trusted it and came out on top.

“When I saw the weather, I wondered if the fans would be here in less numbers but they all turned out and were as loud as ever. They stand and support us in rain or shine and I’d like to thank them for that.”
