Rotherham's Ashley Carty to take on world snooker champ Mark Selby

ROTHERHAM'S Ashley Carty has one of the biggest dates of his professional snooker career when he takes on world champion Mark Selby today.

The two face off in a qualifier for the German Masters at the Chase Centre in Cannock this afternoon after both carded victories in the first round of matches.

Carty beat Sean Maddocks 5-2 last night having led the young Liverpudlian all the way through.

Selby, who last won the event in 2015, beat Ross Muir by the same score after being pegged back to 2-2 at one stage. His victory included a break of 134.

Today's match is due to start at 2.30pm.
