Rotherham United announce plans for promotion celebration at New York Stadium and Parkgate Shopping

MILLERS fans and players will be able to celebrate their club’s promotion to the Championship together tomorrow as an open-top bus tour heads to Parkgate Shopping and the Town Hall.

Paul Warne’s successful side will set off from the New York Stadium at about 4.30pm before heading to the retail park.

There will be a chance for a meet-and-greet with fans for photos and autographs before the bus then travels on to the Town Hall, where Warne will join the Mayor of Rotherham, Cllr Jenny Andrews, in addressing the crowds, before a civic reception.

The club said in a statement: “The Millers are keen to thank supporters for their backing throughout the 2021/22 campaign, in a celebration which will see them travel from AESSEAL New York Stadium, calling at club partners Parkgate Shopping, before returning on to Rotherham Town Hall for a civic reception.

“The event will allow our loyal fans to join in the party, with the Millers starting the parade at our AESSEAL New York Stadium home at around 4pm, before heading over to Parkgate Shopping for around, before returning to Rotherham Town Hall for around 5.50pm.

“Paul Warne, his coaching staff and players will assemble for one final time before breaking away for the closed season, as they board the bus before gathering at the Town Hall to give short speeches and interviews to the assembled masses.”

Approximate timings for the parade:

4.30pm: Open-top bus leaves AESSEAL New York Stadium

4.50pm: Arrive at Parkgate Shopping - Meet with fans, opportunity to get signatures and photographs. Bus located near Matalan.

5:20pm: Leave Parkgate Shopping

5.45pm: Arrive at Rotherham Town Hall.

Road closures will be in place around the Town Hall from 5pm to 7pm for Ship Hill, Moorgate Street, The Crofts, Douglas Street, Stanley Street, Wilfred Street, Grove Road, Quarry Hill, Downs Row, and Snail Hill.
