Rotherham Titans tame Sheffield Tigers in seven-try display

ROTHERHAM Titans got the better of Sheffield Tigers in the first ever competitive fixture between the clubs to keep in contention for runners-up spot in National Two North.

On a day when Hull were proclaimed champions, Titans beat Tigers 41-22 at Dore Moor to remain second, level on points with Sedgley Park.

Rotherham recovered from a slow start to take control with five tries either side of the interval. Kieran Curran went over twice and there was one each for Sam Boxhall, Harry Newborn, Lloyd Hayes, Connor Field and George Tucker.

Hull edged past Hull Ionians 31-29 to clinch promotion to National One after a run of 19 successive wins. Their last defeat was at Clifton Lane back in October.

Titans go to Wharfedale on Saturday before ending the season with the return match against Tigers on May 7.
