Titans held off a second-half fightback from the visitors to win 26-12 and claim five league points which move them second in National Two North.

With previous leaders Stourbridge losing at Fylde, they now have the only unbeaten record in the section.

First-half tries from Sam Boxhall, Matt Smith and Zak Poole, all converted by Matt Minogue, put Rotherham in control by half time.

Playing into the wind in the second half, Titans found it much harder going and the visitors scored two tries, one converted, to give them a glimmer of a chance.

Rotherham’s cause wasn’t helped by losing two players to the sin bin but they re-grouped and scored an all-important fourth try through Callum Bustin to claim a bonus point.

Head coach Adam Byron said: “The weather was always going to have a heavy impact in the game so coming away with a three-try lead at half time was important.

“Huddersfield put us under the pressure in the second half and kept us down in our own 22. There were some really good defensive sets from us and I am pleased that we came through and managed to get the bonus point win and when it comes down to it that’s what counts.”

Titans are away to Harrogate next Saturday.
