A three-pointer from Lloyd Hayes off the last kick of the game decided a terrific contest against lively opponents at sunny Clifton Lane.

A total of 13 tries were scored in all, seven of them by Titans through Matt Challinor (2), Zak Poole (2), Harry Dunne, Matti Williams and Harry Newborn.

Bournville and their lively backs caplitalised on home mistakes to score six tries of their own and looked to have won it with a late converted score until Hayes held his nerve to slot the deciding penalty.

Rotherham have won two and drawn one of their opening three games and sit fourth in the early standings in National Two North.

They are away to Blaydon next week and head coach Steve Salvin will be looking for improvements.

"We have to celebrate the win and the five points but I have to question the performance," he said.

"It was a long, long way off where we need to be."
