The loose-head prop from New Zealand flew in on Saturday in time to take in the 22-20 victory at Bishop's Stortford.

A one-club man in his home-land, Williams will add competition in the front row and and although this weekend's home clash with Blackheath may be too soon for the new arrival, head coach Joe Barker is pleased to have him on board.

"In terms of an English prop he might need a few more pounds on him, but Jess otherwise has all the physical attributes," Joe told the Advertiser. "He has that strength, power and fitness and he'll bring competition and make the squad stronger."

Some sterling defensive work, alide to tries by Jamie Ure, a first for Rotherham from Eru Smith-Wano and another from skipper Seb-Nagle Taylor helped forge the victory at Bishop's Stortford, with Alex Dolly adding the goal points.

The home side felt hard done-to when Joss Linney went over for the final try in the corner and then ran round towards the posts to make an easier conversion. The touch judge insisted he had touched down, a judgement shared by Barker. The more difficult conversion attempt from out wide was subsequenty missed, denying the hosts a draw.

Added Barker: "Their lad landed in the corner and got up because he was wanted to get closer to the posts but the ball did go to ground.

"For us, it was a very good win against a very good team, we showed a lot of grit and determination at the end."

The win moved Titans fourth in National One ahead of Saturday's clash with Blackheath, in second.
