Rotherham Titans hit by Harrogate match cancellation

ROTHERHAM Titans' Yorkshire derby at home to Harrogate on Saturday has been called off because the visitors are short of players.

The National League has confirmed the match will not be replayed and Rotherham awarded five league points.

Bottom-of-the-table Harrogate are understood to be severely depleted in the front row.

While the league points will be welcome to the Titans, the loss of the fixture will deal the club a financial blow since hospitality at Clifton Lane was as good as sold out and bar and gate income will be lost.

Their big South Yorkshire derby at home to Sheffield Tigers at Christmas was called off amidst Covid concerns, although that fixture was rearranged for May 7.

The award of the points lifts Rotherham to within four of National Two North leaders Hull, who are away to Fylde this weekend.

Titans have three fixtures left, starting with a short trip to Sheffield Tigers next Saturday.
