Rotherham Titans embark on important autumn run

IN-FORM Rotherham Titans are ready for an autumn push for league points to up the pressure on their main promotion rivals.

Titans share top spot in National Two North with Sedgley Park after six matches, although the picture is slightly skewed because Stourbridge, down in fifth place with five wins out of five, have played a game less.

Rotherham have already taken on many of the teams around them and with a free weekend in November preceeding a run of more “winnable” fixtures, they want to capitalise.

Speaking ahead of tomorrow's home date with lowly Luctonians, head coach Steve Salvin told the Advertiser: “I am really conscious of the next three weeks. We have Luctonians and then Stourbridge and Hull, who are both near the top. Then we have a week off and six games against teams who are going to be in the bottom half of the table.

“If we can get through the next three weeks in good tact, teams around us are going to start dropping points because they are going to start playing each other more.”

Titans have sailed close to the wind in many matches, surviving some close scrapes before coming through to finish strongly.

Although this will be the first ever competitive meeting with Luctonians, the men from Clifton Lane have been concentrating on their own game in training this week, namely avoiding poor starts.

Salvin added: “There hasn't been a massive emphasis on Luctonians. We have looked at ourselves a little bit more. We have to put this issue around our starts right.”

Kick-off on Saturday is at 2pm.
