Rotherham Hockey Club suspends activity

HOCKEY has joined the many sports to grind to a halt due to the coronavirus.

Rotherham Hockey Club this week announced a suspension of all activity.

A statement said: "Rotherham Hockey takes the duty of care of its members very seriously and, in consideration of the ongoing impact of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), we feel it is not in the best interests of our membership to continue with any of our planned events.

"Therefore with immediate effect the club is suspending all on and off-pitch activity until further notice.

"This includes Tuesday Active Hockey, Wednesday Rush Hockey, Thursday Senior Coaching and this Saturday's fixtures and Sunday's youth coaching."

The ruling also affects the Club Development meeting on Monday, March 23, club dinner on Friday, April 24, the youth presentation evening on Friday, May 8 and Club AGM on Wednesday, May 20.

The club added: "While the AGM is some time ahead, we need to provide a minimum period of notice and are concerned with all that is going on we may not achieve the minimum quorum required. 

"A new date will be arranged to provide sufficient notice and we will communicate this in due course."
