Rotherham golfers Jonathan Thomson and Nick Poppleton on countdown to The Open
ROTHERHAM golfers Jonathan Thomson and Nick Poppleton now know at what time they will be teeing off in The Open, which begins on Thursday.
Wath Golf Club's Poppleton (above) goes out at 12.20pm with Aussies Cameron Smith and Marc Leishman and Keith Mitchell from the USA.
Thomson tees off ten minutes later.
Both came through tough qualifiers to book their place in the stellar field at Royal St George's.
Danny Willett has an 11.20am start with Lee Westwood, reigning Masters champion Dustin Johnson and Rory McIlroy, the 2014 Open champion now coached by Rotherham's Pete Cowen.
