Ronnie still on lookout for striker

MILLERS chief Ronnie Moore is still waiting for news on his transfer targets.

Desperate for an experienced striker to partner Adam Le Fondre, Moore has made an enquiry about Plymouth Argyle's Rory Fallon and submitted a bid for Ian Thomas-Moore at Tranmere Rovers.

Moore admitted: "I don't think either will happen. I've spoken to Peter Reid about Fallon and Swansea have shown an interest and one or two others so he is going to sit tight and see what happens.

"We've bid £30,000 for our Ian but they value him at £100,000.

"He was offered a new contract on Friday and now it is up to Ian what he wants to do. He will be a free agent in the summer but we really need somebody in now."

Another player who was interesting Moore, Jon Macken, has joined Walsall while free agent Izale McLeod has so far refused to come on a trial to prove his fitness.

Moore added: "We keep knocking on doors and we keep getting them slammed in our face but sooner or later somebody is going to say yes. The secret is, don't stop knocking and don't stop asking.

"The big thing for me is we have two strikers (Tom Pope and Ryan Taylor) who have their x-rays (on foot injuries) on Thursday and if they get the all clear they could be back playing in two weeks and that could be important for us."
