Ronnie praises defensive pair

ROTHERHAM United chief Ronnie Moore praised his centre-halves after they helped keep free-scoring Bury at bay at Don Valley Stadium.

Centre-half Ryan Cresswell returned from a long injury lay-off to partner Johnny Mullins in central defence in Saturday's League Two promotion clash and both did a decent shackling job on the visitors as the match ended 0-0.

Moore said: "It was great to get Ryan through. He was cramping up with 20 minutes to go but we took no notice and left him out there.

"The 90 minutes was what he needed and he did really well.

"I thought Johnny Mullins was fantastic. He was the man of the match by a while. He got blocks in and looked accomplished."

As the countdown continues to Friday night's live TV game at Chesterfield, Moore is braced for an approach from Bradford City for Omar Daley.

The winger is on loan from Valley Parade until the end of the season but the Bantams can recall him after a month and their temporary boss Peter Jackson is understood to want him back.

Moore added: "We're hoping to keep him and we've not just talking about now. We want to get something sorted for next season."
