Relief as Millers edge through

MILLERS boss Steve Evans was releived to see his side claim a JP Trophy Northern Semi-Final place with last night's 2-1 win at Hartlepool.

And, after making a string of changes to his team, he said: "It shows the value of the players that we had missing."

The likes of string-pullers Michael O'Connor and Kari Arnason were missing as the Millers struggled to batten down repeated charges from the League Two home side.

Tom Eaves headed Rotherham ahead in the eighth minute but Pool deserved their equaliser when Andy Monkhouse poked home in the 24th minute.

The clincher came just before half-time when Lee Frecklington's shot was deflected home by Kieran Agard.

Said Evans: "We were second best for most of the time but we came through it and won - but one thing that game did do was show us how important our key men are."

The Millers are at Stevenage on Saturday.
