Redfearn delighted with 'refreshing' attitude of Millers squad

The Millers go into Saturday’s home clash with struggling QPR on the back of a confidence boosting 2-0 victory over promotion chasing Brighton on Tuesday evening.

And Redfearn is sure that result and performance have gone some way to improving the mood in the Millers’ camp.

“The atmosphere has been a lot better after Tuesday night,” said Redfearn.

“For the first time in a long time I am working with players that really care and it is refreshing because they train as hard as they play, they listen and want to get better

“What the squad has done is stuck together and shown a real resilience together, sometimes words are used after games like ‘gutted for the supporters’ or ‘sad for this or that’ but these lads genuinely do feel it.

“If you can get a group of players who have got that focus and that desire to want to do well, who want to do well together and run for their mates, then that’s great.

“I might be different to other coaches in that I want to work with them, I want to coach them, I want to show them and they listen.”

Redfearn also revealed one of his pre-match mantras.

It revolves around each player knowing his own responsibilities, but also those of his team mate, so if he is caught in an unusual position, he can deal with the situation effectively.

Redfearn said: “We have a saying before the game, ‘there’s no job on a Saturday that’s not their job’, so if a striker finds himself at left back and he’s having to defend, then he’s got to defend.

“They’ve got that understanding now and they know that they’ve got to do it for one another.”
