REACTION: Warne praises Rotherham's character

ROTHERHAM United manager Paul Warne heaped praise on his squad after they came from behind for the third game in a row to earn something.

They fell behind to Chuks Aneke's first half free kicks, but replies from Jeryy Yates and Will Vaulks secured a 2-1 win, and moved the Millers to within three points of the play-off places.

And Warne praised the team's character and defending ahead of the Boxing Day trip to Bury.

He said: "I'm really pleased today, especially the fact that like the previous two games, we've gone a goal behind.

"From that point of view, I think the lads have got really good character. It's difficult when you're the home team and you go behind, but I thought the lads stood up to the challenge really well, played really well and I thought apart from their goal they didn't have a real threat on our goal.

"I think we could have come in having scored one or two more, we created enough opportunities which we didn't take, obviously.

"Our lads are always revved up and adreneline-based which we're going to have to address because we're giving a lot of free kicks away, which causes us a bit of pressure.

"We were a small side today, with David Ball and Jerry Yates up top and they had quaite a few big lads, so I knew set pieces would be a problem, but I thought we defended really well.

"I'm really proud they put their bodies on the line and overall I'm really pleased going into Christmas, the kids can have turkey without me sulking."
