REACTION: Pride and frustration for Warne after cup exit

PAUL Warne spoke of his pride in his much-changed Rotherham United side after their brave exit from the Carabao Cup.

A line-up showing eight changes from Saturday pushed Huddersfield Town close before going down 2-1, and the Millers chief said the scoreline didn’t do his side justice.

“It was a different game for us because in others we have pressed really high up the pitch. This time we set up differently,” he said.

“I thought we maybe scored too early and I joked ‘we’re into the hornets’ nest, but apart from a wobble just after half time we were the better team and we deserved another goal. Jonson Clarke-Harris missed an easy chance, Kieffer Moore should have scored and I’ve looked back at the replay and there was nothing wrong with Will Vaulks’ ‘goal’. There was no foul.

“Richard Wood was excellent, I was really pleased with both wingers, it was good to see Semi Ajayi get a goal and I thought Jamie Proctor gave Michael Hefele a hard time.

“I was proud to be manager of that team."
