Pride at stake in Rotherham Titans' finale

ROTHERHAM Titans don't want to be the fall-guys when they head south for their final game of the season tomorrow.

Fifth in National One, they sign off with a trip to Old Elthamians, who still have a chance of winning the league.

It's a long shot, with OEs needing to win handsomely and hope leaders Ampthill don't collect a point away to strugglers Loughborough, but Titans coach Joe Barker knows his players will have to fight fire with fire.

He told the Advertiser: "You only have to look at OEs' results this year and what they've done to see that they're a very good team.

"It's a team we have a chance against if we front up and are there mentally.

"OEs will be firing. It's a hard place to go anyway but then knowing where they are and who is fighting for what, it's going to be a very tough challenge and it is something we have to be ready for.

"It is about personal pride for individuals and that's something you just have to have when you play a game of rugby. You don't want to embarrass yourself.”

Kick-off tomorrow is 3pm.
