Police probing "coin-throwing" incident at Millers match

POLICE investigating an incident of disorder in the away end at a Rotherham United match have confirmed that they believe a coin was thrown at an official.

Fans had suggested on social media the chewing gum had been hurled at the assistant referee during the match at Crewe’s Gresty Road ground.

The incident was condemned by Millers boss Paul Warne, who called for the culprit to be banned from future games.

A spokeperson for Cheshire Police said they were aware of the incident, adding: “No arrests have been made and enquiries in relation to the incident remain ongoing.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Cheshire police at www.cheshire.police.uk/tell-us, or call 101.
