HOT-SHOT stopper George Willis has landed a plum pro contract with Sheffield United—despite being a tender 14.

The highly-rated Wickersley School pupil made his England U16s debut a fortnight ago and is in the squad for next Thursday’s Victory Shield tussle with Scotland in Edinburgh.

And this week he was offered a two-year scholarship with the Blades when he completes his GCSEs, to be followed by a two-year professional contract at Bramall Lane.

Said dad Gary: “George wasn’t bothered that much about football until he decided to have a go at goalkeeping.

“He went to Wickersley Youth and started to do well, which is when the Sheffield United academy came in for him. He’s been there for four years and he’s had great support from the likes of coach Bob Widdowson.

“We’re all season ticket holders at United and it’s been a dream come true, especially now getting the offer of a scholarship and a pro contract.”
