HUNDREDS of runners hit the streets for the sun-kissed return of the Rotherham 10K.

A field of nearly 400 tackled the run around town on Sunday while scores more joined the fun run in Clifton Park.

The race was making a welcome comeback after being forced to go virtual for the past two years due to the Covid pandemic.

Jamie Hall from Hallamshire Harriers ran away witt the first place in the main race, coasting to victory in 31.45.

Steve Marshall from Rotherham Harriers was the first locally affiliated runner home, clocking 37.09 and also grabbed the MV45 first place.

There were more than 460 adult runners in the 10k plus 250 more in the 5k fun run and Schools Challenge.

Co-organiser Ray Matthews hailed the event as a great success, saying top runners had branded the course “tough” but added: “They agreed this just gives more of a sense of achievement in finishing it.”

The run, which wends its way through the town centre and the streets of Canklow and Clifton, raises vital cash through entry fees for Age UK.
