Paul Warne fumes over time added on as Rotherham United suffer late derby heartache

The Millers were leading at a sold-out AESSEAL New York Stadium until Dominic Iorfa struck in the tenth minute of added time to force a 2-2 draw.

Eight minutes of stoppage time had inititally been indicated and Warne was at a loss to explain where the extra two had come from.

Barnsley official Darren England might have been expecting a knock on his door but Warne said there was no point having a conversation with him.

"It makes no difference. It's a waste of breath," he said. "He'll apologise or something and I'll just say 'okay' politely. 

"I just don't get it. If  there is extra time on the eight then I don't know where it came from. 

"There was no injury, no goal, no substitution. I was going to make a substitution but decided against it because I thought the ref would just add another 30 seconds on."

The Owls took the lead through Fernando Forestieri, who was later sent off for his celebrations following the last-gasp leveller, but Rotherham hit back with Jon Taylor and Richie Towell shots and were on course for a deserved victory.

"I'm disappointed with the way it ended but it doesn't detract from how proud I am of the performance," Warne said. "I thought we were excellent. 

"The only criticism I have got is that we didn't take the chances we had. We scored two but I thought we could have had five. 

"Obviously I am disappointed to throw away two points, even more so because it seemed like it was past final-whistle time. 

"Sport can be cruel and it felt that way today, but my overall reaction is still one of pride."

It was a fourth consecutive draw for the Millers who remain in 22nd spot.
