Battling Rotherham United earned their third point in three Championship away games by denting high-flying Blackburn Rover's play-off ambitions at Ewood Park.

The Millers suffered a second-half battering against a side that have now lost only once in 29 home league games, but dug deep to stretch their run without defeat to five matches.

Michael Smith headed them into an unlikely lead in the 75th minute before Bradley Dack restored parity with nine minutes to go with his 10th goal of the season.

Rotherham survived a couple of late scares but managed to hang on for a point that leaves them 19th in the table heading into the international break.

Rovers stepped up the pace after the break and Marek Rodak was forced into saves in quick succession from Danny Graham, who should have scored, Elliott Bennett and Darragh Lenihan.

Richard Wood headed a Graham header off the line before more Rodak heroics thwarted Bradley Dack.

But it was the Millers who took an unlikely lead in the 75th minute when Ryan Williams did brilliantly to cross from the right and Michael Smith was at the back post to head across goal and in.

Rodak kept out Adam Armstrong and Wood headed off the line again, this time from Ryan Nyambe, but Rotherham's defences were finally breached in the 81st minute when Dack finished off Ben Brereton's cross.

In a keenly-contersted first half both sides had good chances to open the scoring.

Joe Newell's 25th-minute corner was headed back by Michael Smith and Joe Mattock should have done better than head over the bar from close range.

Nine minutes later, Armstrong beat Zak Vyner on the left and cut inside only to see his venomous shot for the home side rattle the crossbar.

Earlier, Richie Towell hadn't been far away with a dipping 25-yard volley while seconds later at the other end Rodak kept out Amari'i Bell's shot after the Rovers defender had been sprung clear.

Paul Warne's men should have been dead and buried but showed unbelievable character. The result is all that matters.
