The teenager, who has just broken into the first team, has signed a deal which will keep him at AESSEAL New York Stadium until June 2022.

Wiles, who has come through the Millers' youth system, was a stand-out performer in yesterday's crucial 2-1 home win over Preston North End which lifted Paul Warne's men out of the Championship's bottom three.

"He's a real prospect," manager Warne said. "I asked him to come back for pre-season fit and strong and he did.

"He does have unbelievable legs. Of all the midfielders here, he's got the best set of legs, which is pretty crucial."

The 19-year-old has made 11 appearances this season, mainly from the bench, and has started the last two matches.

First-team and development coach Matt Hamshaw has played a big part in the youngster's rise.

"Wilesy is progressing in the right way," Warne added. "Hammy has nurtured him through his youth career really so a lot of credit goes to both of them. Those two are pretty close."
