More anger over Wembley tickets

FURIOUS fans were up in arms this week over a ticketing fiasco which left fans unable to buy seats together.

FURIOUS fans are up in arms over a ticketing fiasco which left them unable to buy seats together.

Rotherham United’s chief operating officer, Paul Douglas, apologised over the ticketing fiasco which saw Ticketmaster refusing to sell more than one ticket at a time on some occasions and only £60 premium tickets on others as it tried to fill one block of seats fully before opening another.

“If some people have been inconvenienced by tickets not being released as quickly as a result then we apologise,” he said.

Complications caused by apparent website failures and a telephone-based selling system snarled up for more than an hour also left fans fuming.

But Mr Douglas said that out-sourcing the ticketing of the match was essential.

He said: “We had to submit plans for our ticket sales to the FA and it became clear that, with the limited parking at the club shop, there was no way we could sell 20,000-plus tickets from there in the space of a few days.”
