Millers skipper stays positive

SKIPPER Johnny Mullins says that Rotherham United are ready to fight to the finish in their quest for promotion from League Two.

Monday's 1-0 defeat at runaway leaders Gillingham left them four points behind third-placed Northampton with six games to play.

And while disappointed with the result at the Priestfield Stadium, Mullins was encouraged by the way the Millers were able to dominate the title favourites in the latter stages.

He said: "Gillingham were better in the first half and they managed to get a goal and had a couple of long-range strikes. We gave it a right go in the second half but we were disappointed because we thought we could go there and get a point or maybe three.

"We have to take the positives. There are six games to go and there is a lot of fight in this team. We have to keep battling to the end and see where that takes us."

Still with the advantage of a game in hand on most of their closest rivals,Steve Evans' men go to mid-table Morecambe on Saturday before hosting promotion rivals Exeter City, currently a point behind, in a rearranged fixture at the New York Stadium next Tuesday.
