Millers launch new Fan Zone

THE matchday experience for Millers fans will take a step up at Saturday's clash with Fleetwood.

It will see the launch of a Fan Zone, designed to bring the club and its supporters closer together.

Funded by the Football Foundation, the exciting new venture incorporates a mobile stage featuring pre-match entertainment and activities for visitors of all ages.

Live bands and artists, interviews with players past and present, quizzes and much more will keep supporters entertained from 12.30pm, all directed by host Dion Leffley.

Sited at the front of the AESSEAL New York Stadium, the Fan Zone will become a feature of all home matches and at Rotherham United Community Sports Trust events throughout the borough.

The Fan Zone is just part of Saturday's annual Community Takeover Day.

Fancy your chances at recreating a Will Vaulks thunderbolt? There will be Speed Shot Test prior to the game.

As ever, RUCST will open the doors of the popular Goal Zone at 1pm, where supporters with a match ticket can enjoy pre-match entertainment including an Xbox console, table tennis table, a reaction wall and indoor games.

Resident club mascot Miller Bear will be a presence throughout the day.

Head of community Jamie Noble (pictured above) said: "The Fan Zone is all about improving the matchday experience for supporters and bringing the club closer to its fans.

"The mobile stage is a great facility to have, not just at matches but when we are out and about in the community.

"It's also something that increases the variety of entertainment and activities we can put on and if anyone has any ideas they are more than welcome to write to me.

"The Commuity Takeover Day as a whole is a great opportunity for our team to showcase the fantastic work they deliver."
