Millers assess casualty list for Bristol test

Jamie Proctor has been ruled out for at least a month with a groin injury while Kyle Vassell also sat out Saturday's draw with Stoke due to a knee problem.

On top of that, skipper Richard Wood came off in the second half after pulling his groin.

His replacement at centre-half, Bristol loanee Zak Vyner, can't play against his parent club, leaving the Millers thin in an area of the team where they are already short of numbers. Sean Raggett and Clark Robertson are also in the treatment room.

Wood's injury will be assessed today.

Manager Paul Warne said: "Jamie Proctor's groin injury is a Grade 2 and he'll be out four to five weeks.

"Kyle Vassell damaged his knee in the previous game at Nottingham Forest. He's had a scan and has a bit of cartilage damage but luckily he doesn't need surgery. If he is back for Wednesday then great but I don't really know at the moment. He did some light running on Friday but he was in a bit of pain so we will have to see how it goes.

"We run a small squad and we'll just motivate the ones who go out to play and if people have to play out of position then so be it."

Warne was happy to collect a point against big-spending Stoke despite seeing a 2-0 lead slip.

Ryan Manning's penalty and Richie Towell's first goal since returning to the club on loan from Brighton looked like paving the way for a fourth home win out of five until Tom Ince and Bojan evened the scores.

"In the first half Stoke created enough chances to get a lead and the lads rode the storm well," said Warne. "Our work ethic is unquestionable but we just didn't have enough quality on the ball.

"We started the second half really well and probably scored too early. The lads' overall emotion was disappointment but mine was of pride. The week was difficult with Kyle and Jamie being out and Michael Smith hadn't trained all week. He had a scan on his groin and he still played and put his body on the line for his team.

"I wouldn't down-talk a draw to Stoke in the situation we're in. I thought the lads were outstanding."

The draw took the Millers to ten points, 18th in the Championship after ten games.
