Local cricket club appeal to youngsters

BOYS and girls of all abilities are being encouraged to take up cricket by a go-ahead local club.

Whiston Parish Church CC starts its indoor training sessions next month and is also looking for players for its dedicated girls and ladies team.

Sessions are — U9s boys and girls (Y3/Y4s) from Monday February 12 (7pm-8pm) at Aston Leisure Centre, Aughton Road, Sheffield S26 2FU.

U11s (Y5/Y6s), 13s (Y7/Y8s) and 15s (Y9/Y10s) from Friday,February 16 (6.30pm - 7.30pm) at Sheffield Hallam University Sports Park, Bawtry Road, Sheffield S9 1UA.

Church's Girls and Ladies team who will also be training on Friday nights at Sheffield Hallam University. All are welcome to join, whether beginners or seasoned players.

The club is also involved with the All Stars Programme, a brand-new initiative from the England and Wales Cricket Board aimed at providing children aged five to eight with a great first experience in the game.

The project will be advertised nationally but more information can be found on the ECB All Stars website.

All Whiston's staff are fully qualified, experienced and DBS checked.
