Lindsy James has been chosen to be a batonbearer at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

 

A KEEN runner from Rotherham has been chosen to be a batonbearer at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham this summer.

Lindsy James is among the bearers who have been selected from nine different regions of England and reflect the diversity in communities across the country.

Bearers are individuals who are willing to take part in a challenge and have a unique and inspiring story. They have made a meaningful  contribution to sport , educational, the
arts and culture, and have made a positive contribution as well as being a figure of inspiration to others within their community.

Lindsy, who runs for Kimberworth Striders, is a director at Active Fusion, whose aim is to give every child  a chance to develop to be active and be positive in their outlook.

She said: "It's an honour to be selected and l hope it inspires children and young people to develop and to love sport and reach their dreams."

The Commonweath Games take place from July 28-August 8.
