Liddell: Players will make mistakes

MILLERS caretaker boss Andy Liddell jumped to the defence of his players after they went down 3-1 at home to Shrewsbury Town last night.

In a League Two six-pointer, Rotherham gave away three goals before pulling one back late on through sub Adam Le Fondre.

The opener came when Luke Ashworth slipped and James Collins fired past Andy Warrington.

Late in the first half Mark Wright was felled in the box for a controversal penalty and Nicky Wroe made it 2-0 before  a howler of a third goal killed the game in the second period, as Warrington made an attempted clearance, the ball hit Tom Bradshaw and it fell perfectly for Collins to slot into an empty net.

Le Fondre's 69th minute strike proved academic.

Said Liddell: "At this level players will make mistakes. If they didn't then they'd be in the Premier League.

"We just have to pick ourselves up and look to the Morecambe game on Saturday."
