Legendary boxing trainer Brendan Ingle dies aged 77

BOXING trainer Brendan Ingle has died at the age of 77.

The likeable Dublin-born former fighter was best known for steering Naseem Hamed and Johnny Nelson to world titles but also nurtured the careers of countless other boxers from his legendary gym at Wincobank, on the outskirts of Rotherham.

Brendan was made an MBE in 1998 for his services to British boxing and his work with local youngsters.

Tributes have come from throughout the world of boxing.

Johnny Nelson wrote on Instagram: "A good, good man has left this earth today. A good friend. A good father figure. And the best trainer in the world."
