Leeds striker joins Millers

THE Millers have signed young Leeds United striker Tom Elliott on a six-month loan deal.

The 19-year-old is a former England youth international and played against Rotherham last year while on loan at Bury.

Millers boss Ronnie Moore said: "He's not the finished article but he's rangy and he's got a lot of pace and he offers us something different.

"Now I'm looking for an experienced striker and a creative player for the middle of the park."

Moore's interest in Wycombe Wanderers striker Matt Harrold was cut short this week when the former Yeovil man joined Shrewsbury Town.

Harrold's new team-mate at Shrewsbury, defender Shane Cansdell-Sherriff, was another Rotherham target but opted to sign another contract there.

The Millers have also missed out to Aberdeen in the scrap to sign striker Josh Magennis.

The goalkeeper-turned-striker, released by Cardiff City, was poised to come to South Yorkshire before being pinched from under Rotherham's noses by a more lucrative offer from north of the border.

Still on the transfer front, Moore has been talking to Swindon Town's experienced Scottish midfielder Craig Easton.
