Jordan Watling roars to Thundersport success on borrowed bike

TEENAGE racer Jordan Watling got his new season in the Thundersport 500 series off to a winning start at Mallory Park—on a borrowed bike which hadn’t been started for a year.

Watling qualified third for the four races in the maiden meeting and led the opener before developing gearbox problems and having to limp home in fifth place.

That meant he had to loan a bike from a friend, which was a spare which had been stored away all last season without being started.

And Jordan promptly fired it up and sped to victory by a hefty 4.5 seconds.

Said dad Andy: “We had to borrow the bike and make a few alterations such as adjusting the handlebars—and Jordan flew on it.”
