Jackett makes Odemwingie first Millers signing

NEW Millers boss Kenny Jackett has wasted no time in making his first signing with former Premier League striker Peter Odemwingie penning a short term deal until January.

Jackett took charge of the Millers on Friday following the sacking of Alan Stubbs and has acted quickly to bolster his front line with the capture of the 35-year-old Nigeria international.

Odemwingie was released by Premier League Stoke in the summer and has top flight experience with other clubs such as West Brom and Cardiff City on his CV.

He was rumoured to be training with League One club Bolton Wanderers recently as well as attracting interest from top flight club Hull City earlier in the summer.

Odemwingie has represented Nigeria 73 times as well as 10 times in the Olympics and lined up against Argentina and Greece in the 2010 World Cup.

Last season he spent time on loan with Championship side Bristol City and netted against the Millers.
