Howzat! Hunt is on for umpires

FANCY becoming a cricket umpire?

The South Yorkshire branch of the E.C.B. Umpires Association are running courses to teach the necessary skills.

They are open to people of all ages who are interested in umpiring matches in and around the South Yorkshire area and full training will be given.

This will lead to the award of an official certificate of competence to umpire, on successful completion of the course.  

All material will be provided which will include an MCC Laws of Cricket book, a DVD showing examples and explaining how various decisions are made, and a students' work book.

The courses start in January at the following venues:

Doncaster Town Cricket Club, starting at 7.15pm on Sunday, January 9. Course tutor Stuart Roberts can be contacted on 01302 851516.

Sheffield Transport Sports Club, Meadowhead, Sheffield, commencing at 7.15pm on Thursday, January 13. The course tutor is Trevor Jones, assisted by Cliff Evans, who can be contacted on 0114 2366834.
