Giants KO'd after mix-up

GIANTS are out of the Rugby League Conrference play-offs—after an administrative mix-up.

The Herringthorpe men were forced to concede Saturday’s scheduled semi-final game at Yorkshire Premier League winners East Leeds.

The clash was originally penned in for 2.30pm kick-off, which clashed with Leeds Rhinos’ Challenge Cup semi final against St. Helens.

With East Leeds boasting ex-Rhinos hero Leroy Rivett in their ranks, they wanted to bring the start time forward, which caused issues in the Giants camp through work and travel commitments.

When the match was eventually settled on at the original time it was too late for many of the Rotherham players who had made other arrangements.  The only realistic option was to concede the game, which was a sad end to a season which promised so much.

But Giants can look back on a season which exceeded original expectations, but promised so much more.

Chairman Chris Bell said: "Had we been offered a play-off berth at the beginning of the season, we would have taken it woth open arms."
