Furious fans slam Wembley ticket sales

FURIOUS Millers fans have hit out over arrangements for the sale of Wembley tickets.

Season ticket holders were quick to contact the Advertiser to voice their frustration at not being able to buy tickets for

Rotherham United’s big League Two play-off final from the club’s Mangham House shop, on Barbot Hall.

Ticketing for the season finale against Dagenham was out-sourced to web-based company Ticketmaster after concerns that parking at the site would not cope with the expected sale of 20,000 in less than a week.

But many devoted Millers are up in arms about having to pay a £2 booking fee and £2 for postage and packing on top of tickets priced £38, £48 and £60 while others are struggling with the payment method.

“This is set to be a historic match for the Millers and I should be really excited but instead I’m angry at the hoops I’m having to jump through to get a ticket,” said John Hickman (60), of Kimberworth.

“I don’t have the internet and I don’t have a credit card so I really don’t know what I’m going to do.”

Tickets were on sale to season ticket holders until 10pm on Sunday and went on general sale today.

Fans can buy tickets on the internet or over a telephone hotline but another fan complained: “I called the ticket line and had to wait 35 minutes just to get an answer. If it’s like this now, with just season tickets prioritised, what’s it going to be like later in the week? It’s crazy.”

He added: “I don’t know why they couldn’t just sell them from Don Valley Stadium or Mangham House.”

Tickets for the Wembley final will be on sale until 5pm on Wednesday.
