The indiscretions led to the cancellation of the international against England last weekend, harming preparations for this weekend's final Six Nations fixture against Italy for Eddie Jones' side.

Argentine Socino and his accused Barbarians team-mates face charges including “individual breaches of protocols” and “providing false statements during an investigation.”

The breaches are thought to include leaving the team hotel without permission or without making their whereabouts known.

The players left their hotel “bubble” to have dinner, and a number also went to a pub.

Fly-half/centre Socino made 52 appearances for Rotherham from 2010-2013, scoring 590 points.

Now 32, he plays for Saracens.
