Former Rotherham hockey player Tom Sorsby and Team GB reach Olympics quarter-finals

FORMER Rotherham hockey player Tom Sorsby remains on course for honours at the Tokyo Olympics as Team GB look forward to the quarter-finals.

The men's team will face India in the last eight on Sunday (1pm) after finishing third in Pool B following a draw with fellow qualifiers Belgium today.

Sorsby, who was part of the junior set-up at Rotherham Hockey Club for four years, came on as a substitute in the 2-2 draw.

The midfielder also set up one of the goals as Great Britain came from 2-0 to draw 2-2 with the Netherlands yesterday to secure their quarter-final place.

Those matches were part of a punishing run of four matches in five days completed by 3-1 wins over South African and Canada and a 5-1 reverse to Germany.

Head coach Danny Kerry said: "We've negotiated a very difficult group. I'm proud of the team for what they've achieved so far."
