Footage shows late kick for victory should have stood, say frustrated Rotherham Titans

ROTHERHAM Titans say they have video evidence showing that their crucial last-kick conversion at Luctonians on Saturday should have stood.

The promotion-chasing Titans were forced to settle for a 10-10 draw in a match which ended in controversy.

After skipper Zak Poole went over for a try to level the scores, Matt Minogue's conversion attempt looked true and both touch judges raised their flags.

However referee George Richardson thought differently and after consulting his fellow officials, he ruled that the effort had gone under the crossbar.

Despite a claim from the Lucs camp that the ball didn't clear the bar, Titans say video footage clearly shows the ball had gone over legitimately.

Trailing 5-0 at half time and having lost Harry Dunne to a red card, Rotherham's 14 men had fought galliantly into a biting wind to pull level with a try from Matt Challinor and then again through Poole before the late drama.

With leaders Hull's match postponed, the draw and two lost points denied Titans a chance to take a bigger slice out of their lead.

They instead trail Hull by ten points with a game in hand.

Titans host fourth-placed Stourbridge on Saturday before an important date at Hull in two weeks' time.
