England fans' roundabout paint jobs safe until after World Cup

England fans have been breaking out the red paint to provide hasty patriotic decorations at junctions around the borough, with Thorpe Hesley, Thurcroft and Brinsworth having all got into the World Cup spirit.

And while Rotherham Council doesn’t exactly approve, it seems the local authority is not out to play the killjoy.

Asked about the overnight red-cross paint jobs, a spokeswoman said: “It’s great that Rotherham residents are showing their support for the England team, but we would rather they did it in other ways. 

“However, we’re in no rush to remove them from Rotherham’s roundabouts until after the World Cup.”
