Eaden to hold the fort at Millers

ROTHERHAM United have confirmed Nicky Eaden will take charge as caretaker manager until a replacement is found for Neil Redfearn.

Redfearn left the Millers (yesterday) after less than four months and just 21 games in charge.

In that time the former Leeds United manager picked up five victories but saw the Millers slip back into the Championship relegation zone with a 2-1 defeat at bottom club Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

Eaden was only appointed as Redfearn's assistant on Thursday. The two were team-mates in the Barnsley team which won promotion to the Premier League in the late 1990s. Eaden had been working with Leicester City U21s.

The club said in a statement: "Following discussions with the board of directors, Rotherham United can confirm that assistant manager Nicky Eaden will take charge of first-team duties while the club continues the search for a new first team manager.

"Nicky will be assisted by Paul Warne and Andy Dibble."

The Millers have also confirmed first-team coach Andy Hughes has left the club.

A statement on the club's website said: "Rotherham United would like to place on record our thanks to Andy for his efforts whilst with the club, and we wish him well for the future."
