DERBY DAY: No room for sentiment, says Joe

EX-OWL Joe Mattock says there’ll be no room for sentiment when he head to Hillsborough with the Millers this afternoon.

The 25 year old left-back turned out 50 times for Wednesday during three seasons at the club

While the club has since splashed the cash and emerged as top-six contenders, Mattock is occupied with matters at the bottom end.

He didn't feature in the corresponding fixture last season but did play when Wednesday struck twice late on to down the Millers at the New York Stadium a year ago.

Mattock was content to shake hands and move on and while it will be strange to be in the away dressing room, he insists Rotherham can make a good local derby of it and give as good as they get against the other leading teams.

"Hopefully it's won't be too hostile at Hillsborough. I didn't leave on bad terms, I left on good terms," he told the Advertiser.

"It was a good club and I enjoyed the three years that I was there but I'm a Rotherham player through and through now and I'm looking forward to going there and hopefully getting a win.”
