Defibrillators ... free to good football homes

CALLING all grassroots football clubs in Rotherham. Do you need a defibrillator?

Paul Heritage's annual Christmas charity fund-raising at his Heritage Goalkeeping Schools went so well that his students raised enough money to purchase six.

Paul's own school will use one, as intended, but he wants a good home for the other five and is inviting football clubs to register their interest.

Applicants are asked to provide as much information as possible regarding player numbers and accessibility and should double check their club doesn't already have one.

The defibrillators will come with online training and funding for a safe, so could be used for the whole community, not just the team.

Defibrillators are used to revive people from sudden cardiac arrest.

Paul said: “After the events on the pitch at the Euros last summer with Christian Eriksen and having lost a very close friend at 15 during my time as a player, it is a subject close to my heart.

“Hopefully a defibrillator will never be needed, but one day it may well just save a life.”

Heritage Goalkeeper Schools run at venues in South Yorkshire, including at Phoenix Sports Club at Brinsworth.
