The club have opened discussions with wing quartet Anthony Forde, Jon Taylor, Ryan Williams and Joe Newell about new deals and also with young goalkeeper Laurence Bilboe.

They have also triggered an option to extend the contract of Joe Mattock by 12 months and remain in talks with the left-back about longer terms.

David Ball, a key man in the 2017/18 League One promotion campaign, heads out having spent virtually all of the season on loan at Bradford City.

Manager Paul Warne said: “I would like to thank all the players who have left the club and I’d like to wish them well for the future.

“We have players leaving who played a significant role in our promotion in 2018 and would go on to represent this great club in The Championship. Their contribution to Rotherham United is greatly appreciated by all the staff and, I’m sure, by the supporters.”

Warne had considered offering Potter a new deal following the 34-year-old's comeback after 17 months out with achilles problems but in the end opted against it.

The midfield man shone for Rotherham after joining them in the summer of 2017 from MK Dons but required achilles surgery that December and didn't play again until the final match of 2018/19 when he came on as a substitute at New York against Middlesbrough.

Dominic Ball, Onariase and Bray never made their mark with Rotherham and have all been out on loan this season with other sides.
