Dan-tastic effort as Rebecca earns black belt

DEDICATED martial arts student Rebecca Couldwell has become a black belt.

Rebecca, a member of Rotherham Martial Arts Club on Domine Lane, gained her 1st Dan Wado Ryu traditional karate belt with the Shindo Kai Karate Association at a grading in Barnsley with chief instructors Ged Tumman and John Tumman — both 7th Dans — as well as her instructor, sensei John Ball.

John, pictured (above) with Rebecca: “Rebecca has trained at Rotherham Martial Arts Centre since she was nine and has been a very loyal and dedicated student.

“She is now a confident young woman and I can see here having a very bright future. We are all so proud of her.”
