Cup cave-in angers Ronnie

MILLERS chief Ronnie Moore slammed his side's defending after last night's FA Cup exit at York City.

Despite dominating the first half and seeing Stephen Brogan hit a post, Rotherham capitulated in the second period as a Michael Rankine double and a Chris Smith strike earned the non-league hosts a 3-0 win.

Moore said: "I gave them a bit of praise at half time to say keep doing the things we're doing and a chance would eventually go in but in the second half we thought it was going to be easy.

"The first goal was the killer. It lifted them and our heads went down. It's the worst defending I've seen for a long, long time.

"It's a game of 90 minutes, not 45, and it's been our problem for most of the season with individual errors, allowing people to turn in the box.

"Someone has to take some responsibility in there."

York City will now go to fellow Blue Square Premier Division outfit Darlington in the second round while Rotherham return to league action away to Crewe on Saturday.

Whether skipper Ryan Cresswell plays in that game is a big doubt.

He pulled up with a recurring back problem just before kick-off last night, with goalkeeper Andy Warrington also withdrawing after his wife went into labour and gave birth.

Jamie Annerson stood in in goal and Moore stressed he was not at fault for any of the goals.
