Cruel injury blow for Rotherham Titans' Jamie Cooke

The 27-year-old centre fractured his tibia and fibula in the contest and was taken to Airedale Hospital.

Jamie sent a goodwill message to guests at last night's annual dinner, where he was given a show of support and picked up two awards — Community Player of the Year for his grassworks work with the Titans' Community Foundation, and Try of the Year for his score at Chester in March.

His misfortune continues a run of cruel luck with injuries this season for Rotherham.

They went down 38-19 at Wharfedale, a result which nudges them down to second place in National Two North behind Sedgley Park and champions Hull, who suffered their first defeat in 20 matches, losing 24-7 to Luctonians.

Titans complete their season at home to Sheffield Tigers on Saturday, starting at midday to accommodate Rotherham Town CC's first team fixture with Ouhtibridge straight after.
